Most Martial Arts originated many years ago, and over the years, they have gone through changes, some not just for the better, but also for the worse. As most Martial Arts have been handed down from Teacher to Student, some practitioners have held on to tradition, and have therefore, not kept up with the changing times. Some Martial Arts Teachers have been averse to change due to blind faith in their Martial Art, and the respect they have for their Teachers before them. This mind set resulted in making most Martial Arts rusty and out dated.
It was only when the Great Master Bruce Lee, came on the scene in the early 60's that the
mind set of Martial Artists began to change from training in a Traditional Martial Art with blind faith in the Instructor to a more dynamic and real-life scenario training. For the first time in Martial Art history, new concepts about what a martial art is, and how one should train in it, began to emerge The
Great Master Bruce Lee had the confidence and courage to break down, the barriers of tradition and blind faith, to create a new and dynamic art which was vibrant and alive, and most of all designed to confidently meet the challenges of a real-life street fight. As Bruce Lee had experienced a lot of street fight situations while growing up in Hong Kong, he was fully aware of the concept of 'Anticipate and Adapt'. No matter what the situation is, one needs to be fully aware and use his potential, to change the
situation in his favour. To get to this stage is not easy, as one has to be focused and train hard to increase ones physical fitness, mental abilities, awareness, body conditioning, attacks and counter attacks etc. As Bruce Lee himself, described JKD as 'The Art of Fighting without fighting', it is the Martial Art that is beyond barriers, traditions and styles. It is said that true intelligence is the art of knowing how to do the right thing at the right time without having to consult or rely on any outside influence. JKD will help you develop this intelligence.
Master Rajvir has been described as one of the best JKD Masters in Goa and among the very few top Instructors in India. His JKD has evolved after years of training in traditional Martial Art schools like Karate, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Dim Mak, Taekwondo, Arnis, Kali, Tai Chi and Western Boxing. Over the years of intensive training, Master Rajvir, has thoroughly understood and perfected his interpretation of JKD to make it suitable and adaptable to real street fight situations. There is a Chinese saying, 'Having to find ways to defend yourself in a real fight is like having to dig a well when you are thirsty'. If you truly believe in having the ability to learn to thoroughly defend yourself, then it is important to convert the thought into action. It is up to the reader to now decide if he/she wishes to take the next step into the world of JKD.
